MCP server

Use Talent Summoner in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor

Start a sourcing search, review candidates and request work emails from the AI assistant you already use. Every search is a normal saved session in your account.

  • Your own sessions only
  • Your key never goes in the chat
  • Same account and Roles as the web app

From the chat

What you can do from chat

You talk to the assistant in normal words. It picks the right tool and checks back while the search runs.

Try asking

Show my Talent Summoner sourcing sessions.

Draft the ideal candidate profile for a senior React engineer in Berlin. Let me review it before searching.

  • Start a search

    Describe the role. The assistant drafts an ideal candidate profile (ICP) for you to review, or searches right away if you ask.

  • Edit, search and refine

    Change the profile, approve it, find more people or tighten the requirements, all in the same session.

  • Read your sessions

    List your recent sessions or open one: the brief, the profile, the candidates and whether work is still running.

  • Review candidates

    Like, shortlist or skip a candidate, with a reason or a note. Your reviews show up in the web app too.

  • Find a work email

    Request a work-email lookup for one candidate. A finished lookup can still come back without an address.

  • Draft outreach

    Ask for messages to the people you shortlisted. You review and send them in the web app.

Searches take time. Drafting a profile takes about 30 seconds to 2 minutes, a search about 2 to 10 minutes, and an email lookup about 30 seconds to 5 minutes. The assistant waits and gives you a link to the session.

Setup

Connect your AI assistant

Most coding assistants connect with one command. You need a Talent Summoner account and Node.js 22.20 or newer.

  1. 01

    Create an API key

    Sign in and open Settings, then API Keys. Create a key and give it a name you will recognise.
  2. 02

    Run the setup command

    Run the command below in a terminal, from any folder.
  3. 03

    Pick your clients

    Setup lists the AI clients it can connect. The ones it finds on your computer are already selected.
  4. 04

    Paste the key, then restart

    Paste the key into setup's hidden prompt, nowhere else. Restart each client and approve the connection.

Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and more

The setup command installs the MCP server and a short skill that tells the assistant how to wait for results and when to ask you first.

npx @talent-summoner/setup

Works with Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, Codex, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Zed, Cline, Goose, Kiro CLI, OpenCode and more.

Any other MCP client

Add an HTTP server with this address and header. Field names differ a little between clients.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "talent-summoner": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://talentsummoner.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Keep the key in the client's config or a secret store. Never put it in a chat, a command you share or Git.

ChatGPT and the Claude apps

ChatGPT and the Claude web and desktop apps connect with a sign-in instead of a key. That connection is in early access and we set it up with you. Ask us and we will send the details.

In the web app

What still happens in the web app

The assistant does the searching. The steps that spend money or reach a candidate stay with you, in your browser.

  • Checkout. The assistant can use a Role you already have. It is told to ask you first, and most AI clients show an approval prompt before this step. It can never buy Roles or plans.
  • Sending outreach. The assistant can draft messages, but you review, approve and send them in the web app.
  • Connecting and verifying the email account you send from.
  • The full view of a session. Every session the assistant starts opens in the web app from the link it gives you.

Security

Your account, your sessions

The assistant works with your account and nothing else.

  • Your own sessions only

    The connection belongs to your account, so the assistant can only see and change your own sessions.

  • Your key never goes in the chat

    You paste the key into setup's hidden prompt. The skill tells the assistant never to ask you for it.

  • It cannot buy anything

    The assistant can use a Role you already have, but it cannot buy Roles or plans. It is told to ask you first, and most AI clients show an approval prompt before this step.

  • Disconnect any time

    Delete the key in Settings, then API Keys. For a sign-in connection, remove it in Settings, then Connected apps.

Questions

Using Talent Summoner from an AI assistant

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants use outside tools. The Talent Summoner MCP server gives your assistant seven sourcing tools that work with your account.

Does it cost extra?

No. The assistant uses the same account, Roles and plans as the web app, and your first Role is still free. There is no separate charge for the MCP connection.

Which AI assistants work with it?

The setup command connects Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, Codex, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Zed and other coding assistants. Any client that supports remote HTTP MCP servers can connect by hand. ChatGPT and the Claude web and desktop apps use a sign-in connection that is in early access, so ask us to set it up.

Can the assistant spend money or email candidates?

It cannot buy anything or send email. It can use a Role you already have. It is told to ask you first, and most AI clients show an approval prompt before this step. Buying Roles or plans and sending outreach happen in the web app.

Can the assistant see other people's searches?

No. The connection belongs to your account, so the assistant only sees and changes your own sessions.

How do I disconnect?

Delete the API key in Settings, then API Keys. If you connected with a sign-in, remove the app in Settings, then Connected apps. The assistant loses access once you do.

Do I need to be a developer?

No, but you run one command in a terminal. If you would rather not, you can do everything in the web app.
