What Is an AI Recruitment Platform? Types, Costs, and How to Choose (2026)
The five types of AI recruitment platform, what each really costs — from $39 per role to $15,000 seats — and an honest guide to choosing. Verified July 2026.

An AI recruitment platform is software that does the hiring work that used to be manual: finding candidates, screening and ranking them, running interviews, moving people through a pipeline. It is not an ATS — an ATS tracks candidates you already have; an AI recruitment platform finds or evaluates them for you.
The market splits into five types, priced from $39 a role to $15,000 a seat per year, and most teams need exactly one. Disclosure first, because we are on this map: we build Talent Summoner, an agentic per-role sourcing tool — $39 a role, or $79/month if you hire steadily, free to start with no credit card — and we will say plainly when a different type — or none — is the better buy.
One filter before the map: if job posts already bring you strong applicants, you need an ATS, not this. This guide is for teams whose problem is finding or choosing people.
The five types of AI recruitment platform
| Type | What it does | How it's priced | Examples (per their own public pages, July 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sourcing and discovery | Searches large profile databases to build candidate lists for your outreach | Monthly subscription, often with contact credits | Juicebox, hireEZ |
| Screening and ranking | Scores and ranks candidates against role criteria | Per-seat or enterprise quote | Eightfold (enterprise talent intelligence) |
| ATS with AI | Pipeline-tracking suites with AI screening and sourcing assistants layered on | Per-seat subscription | Workable, Greenhouse |
| Interview and assessment AI | Structured video interviews, chat-based screening, scheduling automation | Enterprise quote | HireVue, Paradox |
| Agentic per-role sourcing | Takes a role brief, runs the search and ranking, returns an evidence-backed shortlist | Per role, or a small monthly plan | Talent Summoner (our product) |
A warning about labels: nearly every vendor now calls itself "agentic" — hireEZ, Workable, and Eightfold all do. Ignore the adjective and classify by what you pay for (a seat, credits, or a role) and what lands on your desk (a database, a scored pile, or a finished shortlist).
What the AI actually does
Under every marketing page, the mechanics are the same three steps:
- Search — expands your criteria beyond keywords, so "founding backend engineer" also surfaces people who never used those words.
- Match — reads career histories against your actual requirements, not just title overlap.
- Rank — orders the results and, in the better tools, shows the evidence per match (more in how candidate ranking works).
What no platform does is judgment — you still set the bar, choose who gets a conversation, and run the interviews; treat any tool promising otherwise as marketing.
What AI recruitment platforms cost
The pricing model matters more than the sticker: do you pay for capacity (a seat, hire or no hire) or for work done (a role searched, a placement made)?
| If you hire… | The model built for you | What it costs (verified or reported, July 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| A few roles a year | Per-role — pay per search | Talent Summoner (ours): $39 a role · $99 for 3 · unused roles valid 24 months |
| Most months | Small subscription | Talent Summoner Pro (ours): $79/month, 4 roles a month, 3-month rollover |
| Most months, database self-search | Sourcing subscription | Juicebox publishes plans from $99/month |
| Continuously, at volume | Seat license | LinkedIn Recruiter: Lite $170/month ($1,680/year billed annually) · Corporate $8,999–$15,000 per seat/year (reported) |
| Not at all — you outsource | Agency contingency fee | 15–25% of first-year salary per placement (reported) — $9,000–$15,000 on a $60,000 hire |
Enterprise tiers (Recruiter Corporate, Eightfold, HireVue-class) are sales-quoted on org size — as of July 2026, none prints a price. The full LinkedIn breakdown lives in our LinkedIn Recruiter pricing guide.
Where Talent Summoner fits
The agentic per-role row is ours — weigh our take accordingly, and check it yourself: it is free to start, no credit card. Describe the role in plain English; the agent searches 200M+ profiles across LinkedIn, GitHub, and public sources; you review a ranked shortlist with the reasoning per candidate spelled out — outreach stays yours.
Pay to match your hiring cadence:
- Occasional: $39 for one role, $99 for three (saves $18), valid 24 months. Four roles a year runs $138–$156, against $1,680 for the cheapest seat.
- Monthly: Pro, $79/month for 4 roles a month; unused roles roll over 3 months.
Trade-offs, stated plainly: no InMail, no always-on pipeline between hires, no ATS integration today — if one of those is load-bearing, the next section is yours.
When a different tool — or no tool — is the right call
- You hire weekly and InMail is your primary channel → a Recruiter seat earns its price; negotiate with the reported bands.
- You run a TA org needing pipeline, compliance, and integrations → an ATS-with-AI (Greenhouse, Workable) or enterprise suite is the correct spend; per-role tools complement, not replace.
- The search is confidential or executive → retained agencies (reported 25–35% of first-year compensation) sell discretion no software replaces.
- Applicants already come to you → a plain ATS is enough; do not buy sourcing you will not use.
How to evaluate an AI recruitment platform
Five checks, in the order they save you money:
- Data coverage — ask where profiles come from; treat any vendor's database total (ours included) as a claim to test on your role.
- Ranking transparency — demand visible reasoning per candidate; a bare score is a black box.
- PII handling — where candidate data lives, how long it is retained, the GDPR posture; you inherit the risk.
- Trial before pay — run one real role before committing; any vendor confident in its output will let you.
- Exit cost — per-role and monthly plans cost nothing to leave; annual seat contracts are where mistakes get expensive.
FAQ
Is AI recruiting software worth it for a small team?
Yes, when priced the way small teams hire: three or four roles a year costs $99–$156 per-role, against $1,680 a year for the cheapest LinkedIn Recruiter seat. The seat only wins once hiring is near-weekly.
What is the difference between an AI recruitment platform and an ATS?
An ATS is a system of record — it tracks applicants you already have. An AI recruitment platform is a system of work — it finds, screens, or ranks candidates; an empty pipeline needs the finding kind first.
Do AI recruiting tools replace recruitment agencies?
They replace the search labor, not the judgment or outreach: agencies charge a reported 15–25% of first-year salary to run search, vetting, and persuasion; AI tools from $39 a role hand you the shortlist. Confidential and executive searches still favor agencies.
Are HR AI tools the same as AI recruitment platforms?
No — HR AI tools is the wider bucket: payroll, performance, engagement, and analytics as well as hiring. An AI recruitment platform covers the pre-hire slice: sourcing, screening, ranking, interviewing.
The cheapest way to settle the category question is to run it on a live role: start free, no credit card, and judge the shortlist against whatever you use today.
