How to hire in Taiwan

How to hire a data analyst in Taiwan

Taiwan's data analyst market is deep at the junior end and thin exactly where most employers want to hire: of roughly 990 live openings for the title on 104 — the dominant job platform — 331 ask for under a year of experience and only 7 for ten or more. This guide covers what the role pays here, where the analysts actually sit, and the work-permit routes if your best candidate is not local.

What it pays

What a data analyst costs in Taiwan

Salaries in Taiwan are quoted monthly in NT$, and the striking thing about this pay table is how flat it is. The junior and mid bands overlap heavily, and even the ten-year band tops out around NT$85,000 a month on 104's employer-reported data — analysts who want a bigger number tend to retitle as data scientists or data engineers, which is where your senior candidates go missing.

Figures checked August 2026. The experience bands are the P25–P75 range of monthly base salary from 104's employer-reported data for the 數據分析師/資料分析師 title — 512 valid samples, updated 10 August 2026. Read them as base only: Taiwanese offers are typically a monthly figure multiplied by a guaranteed number of months plus bonus, so two offers with the same monthly number can differ by months of pay a year. On top of salary, the Bureau of Labor Insurance puts the labour insurance premium at 11.5% plus 1% employment insurance, with the employer paying 70% of both, plus a pension contribution of at least 6% of monthly wage — and an employer share of National Health Insurance sits on top of that.

Where the talent sits

Where Taiwan's data analysts work

A junior-heavy market — seniors are the bottleneck

On 104's data updated 10 August 2026, the roughly 990 live openings for the data analyst title skew hard to the junior end: 331 ask for under a year of experience, 317 for one to three years, and just 7 for ten or more. The experienced analysts exist — but they are employed, retitled, or both, and they are not in the applicant pile.

The semiconductor cluster and its science parks

The Hsinchu Science Park Administration reports over 600 companies approved to operate across its parks, collectively employing more than 160,000 people, with integrated circuits at 70% of park output. Fabs, IC designers and their suppliers hire analysts into yield, operations and supply-chain seats — often under engineering titles rather than 資料分析師.

Taipei and New Taipei — the volume market

The capital region carries the widest spread of data analyst seats: e-commerce and retail platforms, banks and insurers, and the corporate functions of every industry, and most of the openings shown against 104's salary data for the title sit in Taipei and New Taipei. This is where the classic SQL-and-dashboards analyst job lives.

The Gold Card pool — internationally mobile analysts

Taiwan's Employment Gold Card Office reports 8,973 valid Gold Cards issued to professionals from 114 countries since 2018, with Digital one of the eleven qualifying fields. These holders carry an open work permit — no sponsorship needed — and the pool skews towards senior, internationally experienced profiles.

Four adjacent titles, one skill set

104 runs 數據分析師/資料分析師 (data analyst), 資料工程師 (data engineer), 資料科學家 (data scientist) and 商業分析師 (business analyst) as separate job categories, and its own salary page lists the engineer and scientist titles as the analyst's nearest neighbours. The person you want may be filed under any of the four.

Work permits

Work authorisation for hiring a data analyst in Taiwan

Most data analyst hires in Taiwan are local — Mandarin is the default working language, and the junior end of the market is well supplied. But if the seniority you need is not answering ads, Taiwan's routes for foreign professionals are genuinely usable, and some mean the candidate needs nothing from you at all.

The candidate may already be free to work

Taiwanese nationals, permanent residents and Employment Gold Card holders can start without any application from you. Ask this in the first call — an analyst holding a Gold Card or an APRC changes your timeline from months to days.

Employer-sponsored work permit for specialised or technical work

The standard route: you as the employer apply to the Workforce Development Agency under the Ministry of Labor. The foreign professional's average monthly salary must be no less than NT$47,971, and the qualification pathways include a master's degree, a bachelor's degree with two or more years of related experience, or five or more years of specialised skill. Source: EZ Work Taiwan (Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor), read August 2026.

Employment Gold Card

A combined open work permit, residence permit and visa for skilled professionals, valid for up to three years, and the holder can work for any employer — the candidate applies for it themselves, no job offer required. The scheme covers eleven fields including Digital. Source: Taiwan Employment Gold Card Office site, read August 2026.

APRC — permanent residents

Foreign professionals who reach permanent residency keep open work rights — the Gold Card Office confirms that on converting a Gold Card to an APRC, the open work permit not bound to any employer is unaffected. Gold Card holders can apply after holding the card three years and residing in Taiwan an average of 183 days or more a year. Source: Taiwan Employment Gold Card Office FAQ, read August 2026.

These pages were read in August 2026 and the schemes do change — thresholds and qualification pathways get revised. Check ezworktaiwan.wda.gov.tw and goldcard.nat.gov.tw before relying on any of this, and take proper advice for a specific case — this is background, not legal advice.

How to run the search

How to actually run the search

Price the seniority, not the title

The junior bands overlap — NT$45,000 – NT$66,000 under a year against NT$45,000 – NT$59,000 at one to three years on 104's August 2026 data — so paying mid-band money gets you a junior market's worth of applicants either way. The real budget question is the senior end, where openings are scarce and the P75 sits at NT$85,000.

Write the ad in the market's own titles

資料分析師, 資料工程師, 資料科學家 and 商業分析師 are separate categories on 104, and ads are read in Mandarin first. Name the actual work — the tools, the data, the decisions the analysis feeds — or you will collect Excel reporting applicants for a modelling seat, and vice versa.

Search the market, not the applicants

The analysts you want are building someone else's dashboards and not reading job boards. Talent Summoner searches public professional profiles across the open market and ranks them against your brief, so you start from people who fit rather than people who applied.

Check work authorisation in the first call

Local hire, Gold Card holder, APRC holder, or employer-sponsored permit — these are four different timelines. The sponsored route needs the NT$47,971 salary floor and a qualification pathway; a Gold Card or APRC holder can sign as fast as a local.

Time offers around the year-end bonus

A large share of Taiwanese pay arrives as a year-end bonus before Lunar New Year, and candidates time their moves around it. Expect the strongest pipeline just after the holiday, and expect buy-out arithmetic in any offer conversation just before it.

FAQ

Questions Taiwan employers ask

What salary should I offer a data analyst in Taiwan?

Per 104's salary data updated 10 August 2026, the P25–P75 monthly base band runs NT$45,000 – NT$66,000 under one year of experience, NT$45,000 – NT$59,000 at one to three years, NT$49,000 – NT$71,000 at three to five years, NT$53,000 – NT$75,000 at five to ten years, and NT$61,000 – NT$85,000 beyond ten years, from 512 employer-reported samples.

Why is it hard to hire a senior data analyst in Taiwan?

Because the market barely advertises for one. On 104's August 2026 data, only 7 of roughly 990 live data analyst openings ask for ten or more years of experience, and the ten-year pay band tops out around NT$85,000 a month — so experienced analysts either sit in jobs they are not leaving or move to data scientist and data engineer titles. Hiring at this level usually means approaching people, not posting ads.

Can I hire a foreign data analyst in Taiwan?

Yes, through three main routes. You can sponsor a work permit through the Workforce Development Agency — the salary must be at least NT$47,971 a month and the candidate needs a qualifying degree or experience. Or the candidate may hold an Employment Gold Card, a combined open work permit, residence permit and visa valid up to three years that lets them work for any employer. APRC holders — permanent residents — likewise keep open work rights and need nothing from you.

What statutory costs sit on top of a Taiwan salary?

Per the Bureau of Labor Insurance, the labour insurance premium rate is 11.5% plus a 1% employment insurance rate, and the employer pays 70% of both. Employers must also contribute at least 6% of each worker's monthly wage to their individual labour pension account, and an employer share of National Health Insurance applies on top.

What job title should I use in a Taiwanese data analyst ad?

數據分析師 or 資料分析師 — 104 uses both for the same category — and write the ad in Mandarin, which is the default working language in most Taiwanese offices. Note that 資料工程師 (data engineer), 資料科學家 (data scientist) and 商業分析師 (business analyst) are separate categories on 104, so pick the title that matches the actual work or the right people will never see the ad.
