LinkedIn Job Posting Cost 2026: Free, Promoted or Job Slots
LinkedIn job posts are free one at a time. Promoted posts are pay per click: $10 a day for 30 days costs $300 or less. Job Slots are sold by contract.

Posting a job on LinkedIn is free for one open job at a time. To reach more people you promote it and pay per click against a budget you set; LinkedIn's own example is $10 a day for 30 days, so $300 or less.
We build Talent Summoner, which skips the job post: it searches public profiles for people who fit your role and ranks them with the reasoning behind each match. Your first Role is free, with no card.
This page is for a founder or hiring manager about to post a few roles a year. If you hire all year round, read the Job Slots row.
How much does it cost to post a job on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn publishes the rules but no rate card, so the third-party figures below are reported, not quoted.
| Option | What you pay | What you get | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free job post | $0 | One open job at a time, active for 14 days, typically 10 to 30 applications, 25 recommended candidates | Testing one role |
| Promoted job post (Hiring Pro) | Pay per click on a daily or total budget you set, billed until you close the job. LinkedIn's example: $10 a day for 30 days, $300 or less. Reported: $1.50 to $4.50 a click in the US | Unlimited applicants, up to 350 invites to recommended candidates, 5 InMails per job, open until you close it or for 6 months | Hiring 3 or fewer people a year (LinkedIn's guidance) |
| Job Slots | Contract through LinkedIn sales. Reported: $200 to $1,000 per slot per month, on 12-month contracts | A prepaid slot you rotate jobs through, promoted automatically | Hiring more than 5 people a year (LinkedIn's guidance) |
| Talent Summoner (our product) | First Role free, no card; then US$29 per Role, or US$59 a month for 10 Roles | A ranked shortlist from LinkedIn, GitHub and other public sources, with the reasons; you contact people yourself | Roles where the right people are not applying |
What does a free LinkedIn job post include?
A free post has hard limits. Per LinkedIn Help, checked in October 2026:
- One at a time: one free open job, and a limited number of free posts in any 30 days.
- Short life: active for 14 days, then paused; if you never promote it, it closes after 30 days.
- Applicant cap: typically 10 to 30 applications, depending on the role; after that it drops out of search.
- Company Page required: the post must be tied to your company's LinkedIn Page.
If ten good applicants are enough, free is the right answer.
How does promoted job pricing work?
A promoted post is pay per click, and on LinkedIn a click and a view are the same thing. You set a daily or total budget, LinkedIn recommends an amount and the minimum varies by role; each click's price depends on the job's location and how many similar posts compete there.
Some new posters get a free trial on their first promoted job. If the job is still open when the trial ends, it bills at the recommended budget.
| Budget you set | How long the job stays open | Most you pay |
|---|---|---|
| $10 a day | 30 days | $300 (LinkedIn's example) |
| $10 a day | 90 days | $900 |
| $10 a day | 6 months, the automatic close | about $1,800 |
| $300 total | Until the $300 is spent | $300, then the post pauses |
The trap is that a daily budget keeps billing until you close the job. A role that takes three months to fill can cost up to three times the headline example.
LinkedIn charges your card when you close the job, 30 days after posting, or when the balance reaches $500.
What do LinkedIn Job Slots cost?
Job Slots are a contract: you buy slots through LinkedIn sales and rotate jobs through them. LinkedIn suggests them if you hire more than 5 people a year.
LinkedIn prints no price, and the vendor-blog figures in the table above are the best public guide. At the reported low end, one slot comes to about $2,400 a year.
What does each option cost for 3 hires a year?
This assumes each role is open for 30 days.
| Option | Year one | Later years | What the money buys |
|---|---|---|---|
| Promoted posts at LinkedIn's $10-a-day example | up to $900 | up to $900 | Applicants who saw the ad and chose to apply |
| One Job Slot at the reported low end | about $2,400 | about $2,400 | One always-on promoted slot |
| Talent Summoner, 3 Roles (our product) | US$33 | US$79 | A ranked shortlist for each role; outreach is your job |
Our arithmetic: year one is a free Role, then US$4, then US$29. Later years use the US$79 3-Role bundle.
These options buy different things. A job post brings people who chose to apply, while a shortlist brings people who fit but may not be looking, and you still have to write to them.
When is a LinkedIn job post worth it?
- Many applicants needed: entry-level or high-volume roles, where plenty of qualified people are job hunting.
- A known brand: people already know your company and look for its jobs.
- No time for outreach: you can screen applicants but cannot write to candidates one by one.
A post is weaker for senior or niche roles, where the people you want are often not job hunting. To search LinkedIn yourself instead, see LinkedIn Recruiter pricing and LinkedIn Recruiter alternatives.
Where Talent Summoner fits
Candidate sourcing searches LinkedIn, GitHub and other public sources, over 200 million profiles, and ranks people against your must-haves and nice-to-haves with plain-English reasoning. When you reach out, it drafts each message and sends it from your own Gmail, Outlook or LinkedIn after you review each message and confirm the send.
Prices as of 12 October 2026: your first Role is free, then US$29 per Role if you hire a few times a year (pricing). For steady hiring, Pro is US$59 a month for 10 Roles, unused Roles do not carry over, and Unlimited is US$299 a month.
Trade-offs, stated plainly: no paid InMail, no always-on pipeline and no ATS integration today. It does not post jobs or collect applications, so it does not replace a job post when you need volume.
Many small teams run both: a free LinkedIn post for inbound applicants, and a sourced shortlist for the people who will never see it. For the full cost of a hire, not just the ad, see cost per hire.
We checked these facts on 12 October 2026 and re-check them every quarter. LinkedIn's figures come from its Hiring Pro pricing page and Help Center; the reported figures come from Pin, Truffle, Jobspage and we-connect.
