Free Job Posting Sites for Employers: What Free Covers (2026)
Which job sites let employers post free in November 2026, with job limits, expiry and what boosting costs: Indeed, LinkedIn, Handshake, Wellfound and more.

Several big sites let employers post jobs free, but each caps how many jobs, how long they run or who sees them. We build Talent Summoner, which does not post jobs: it searches public profiles and returns a ranked shortlist, with the reasoning behind each match.
Your first Role is free, with no card. Below is what free covers on each site, read from its own page on 4 November 2026, except ZipRecruiter's, which is reported.

ZipRecruiter blocked our reader, so this row is reported. Pin, Truffle and Fit Small Business give the price and trial; Pin and Truffle the card; Pin alone says no permanent free plan.
Indeed says some jobs are sponsored only, and that jobs from a career site, data feed or applicant tracking system (ATS) may require sponsoring. LinkedIn also limits free posts in a 30-day window and may require you to promote a job.
What "free" usually leaves out
Free posting sells you a listing, not applicants. Five limits come up again and again:
- A cap on jobs: the site counts how many you can run at once or per month.
- A clock: the job pauses, closes or is archived after a set time.
- Fading visibility: older free jobs are shown less as newer ones arrive.
- Paid boosts: the best placement goes to whoever pays, so a free post can sit below sponsored ones.
- A narrow audience: some free sites mostly reach students or startup candidates.
Glassdoor is not in the table. Its employer page sells employer branding and says "Hire with Indeed", and we could not confirm a free job post.
Which free site fits which hire
- Local or hourly roles: in our view Indeed is the usual start, because three jobs a month covers a small hiring plan.
- One role, once: LinkedIn's single free job works if you have a company Page.
- First jobs and interns: Handshake's Basic plan is free.
- Startup hires: Wellfound's free listings reach a startup audience.
- Roles that must appear on Google: see how to post a job on Google.
For paid prices once free runs out, see Indeed job posting cost, LinkedIn job posting cost and ZipRecruiter cost.
When a free post is enough, and when it is not
A free post is enough when a handful of applicants will do. In our view hourly, local and entry-level roles often fit, because many qualified people are job hunting.
In our view it is weaker for senior or niche roles. The people you want are often employed and not searching, so a listing may never reach them.
Where Talent Summoner fits
Candidate sourcing searches LinkedIn, GitHub and other public sources, over 200 million profiles, and ranks people against your must-haves and nice-to-haves.
When you reach out, it drafts each message. It sends from your own Gmail, Outlook or LinkedIn after you review each message and confirm the send.
Prices as of 4 November 2026: your first Role is free, then US$29 per Role. For steady hiring, Pro is US$59 a month for 10 Roles (unused Roles do not carry over) and Unlimited is US$299 a month for up to 4 people, plus US$59 per extra person (pricing).
Trade-offs, stated plainly: no LinkedIn InMail, no always-on pipeline and no ATS integration today. It is not a job board and does not search resumes.
It does not post jobs, collect applications or show CVs uploaded to job sites.
You can run both: a free post for inbound applicants, and a sourced shortlist for people who may never see it. For the full cost of a hire, see cost per hire.
We checked these facts on 4 November 2026 and re-check them every quarter. Every price above was read from that site's own page, except ZipRecruiter's, which is reported.
FAQ
What is the best free job posting site for employers?
It depends on the hire, because the free sites reach different people. In our view Indeed suits local and hourly roles, while Handshake and Wellfound describe audiences of early talent and startups.
Is it free to post a job on Indeed?
Yes for many US jobs: up to three per calendar month, each shown for up to 30 days. Indeed says some jobs are sponsored only, and sponsoring keeps a job visible after that.
Is LinkedIn free for posting jobs?
Usually, for one job open at a time, tied to your company's LinkedIn Page; LinkedIn may require promotion in some cases. A free post is active for up to 14 days, then paused, and closes after 30 days unless promoted.
Is Craigslist free for job posts?
Not in the US. Craigslist's posting-fee page lists job categories at $10 to $75 in the US and parts of Canada, with the fee varying by area.
Is ZipRecruiter free for employers?
Reportedly not: Pin says there is no permanent free plan, and Pin and Truffle report a two-to-four-day trial. Fit Small Business says four days; ZipRecruiter's own pages blocked our reader.
Can I post a job for free and get it on Google?
It can become eligible, through JobPosting markup on your own job page or a trial; Google does not guarantee it will show. Workable says its trial posts to Google, Glassdoor and other boards for 15 days, then archives the job.
Is there a free way to find candidates instead of posting?
Talent Summoner's first Role is free, with no card. It searches public profiles from a role brief, so it finds people but does not post your job.
